Strippers

possible stories of a real past

Strippers is a mockumentary series. Each episode of Strippers is presented as a biographical documentary.

All episodes are made up of archive material. They are narrated by a female voiceover which tells us the fictional life story of a stripper from the past, from the 1920’s to the 1960’s.

The personal stories of the protagonists are based on original screenplays. The screenplays bring the lives of these forgotten showgirls out of obscurity and into the spotlight. Through this narrative choice we travel through the evolution of the female condition, erotic imagery and the social transformations of the last century.

Historical events are woven into the lives of the protagonists through the use of newsreel footage and documentaries from the time, showing what life was like then.

Strippers offers a completely new take on history seen through the lives of people who have often been forced to the margins of society: strip-teasers.

Home movies, historical films, clips, educational films, cartoons, songs, radio programmes, adverts, photographs, postcards, newspapers, posters.

The stories are based on plausible, appropriate and coherent documents and material; this creates the effect of being “true stories”.
